Grover Grooms, retired truck driver, died Dec. 12, 2005, at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Okla., at the age of 86 years.

He was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Alton, Mo., the son of Jesse Marion and Ella Blankenship Grooms.

He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving his country during World War II. He earned the rank of sergeant and received numerous awards, ribbons and medals for his service.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

He was a truckdriver for Roadway Trucking for many years and received many safe driving awards including the Million Miles Safe Driving Award.

He attended Ascension Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly, of the home in Pawnee, Okla.; two daughters, Brenda Jo Briscoe and husband, John of Pasadena, Texas, and Suzanne Grooms Spears of Pawnee, Okla.; four grandchildren, Geralyn Amy Nolan and husband, Mark, of College Station, Texas, Jayme Matthias Brown of College Station, Texas, Sara Ella Spears and Jack Dewayne Spears both of Pawnee, Okla.; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Grace Nolan of College Station, Texas; two sisters, Josephine Reeves and husband, Gene, of Thayer and Jessie Mae McGhee and husband, Bill, of Glendora, Calif., and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gordon, Graden Oliver and Charlie Glen Grooms.

Graveside services were held at the Norman Cemetery on Dec. 15 with Rev. Wayne Adrian officiating. Burial followed with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.

Pallbearers were Brenda Briscoe, Suzanne Grooms, Spears, Geralyn Nolan, Jayme Brown, Sarah Spears and Jack Spears.
