Child porn lands Couch man one year sentence

Thursday, December 15, 2005

SPRINGFIELD -- A Couch man, John Wayne Roy, was sentenced Dec. 5 to one year and one day in federal prison without parole for possessing child pornography.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. Chief District Judge Dean Whipple in federal court in Springfield. Judge Whipple also ordered Roy to forfeit to the government a Hewlett Packard Pavilion computer processing unit, which was used to commit the offense.

Roy, 49, pleaded guilty July 13 in Oregon County Associate Court to possessing child pornography by admitting he was in possession of a computer hard drive that contained child pornography in April 2004 in Oregon County.
