A Mammoth Spring woman is trying to help families in need this Christmas. "During the holidays, even the most thrifty are guilty of stretching their budget to the limit. Many families, though, are simply in crisis, with more difficult circumstances than most of us as holiday shoppers can imagine," an organizer said. She said she and others in the community are afraid children are going to wake up without a "Christmas morning."
"They may also have to take their loved ones out in the cold without long sleeve shirts and coats they lack and adequate blankets on their beds and many other humbling situations," she said.
"We are asking the community and families who can afford it to adopt a family this Christmas. If a family is in need they can write to: Adopt a Family, 550 Archer Ave., Mammoth Spring, AR, 72554," Nicole said. She said all names that are included will be kept completely confidential. "The adopting family will be given a number to place on each of the gifts to identify them with the family," she said. She is asking that clothes sizes and a word description of each family member be included.
The help organizer said the Mammoth Spring VFW has already adopted two families. "We are in great need of more organizations becoming involved and adopting families. The more community involvement the more households we can help," she said.
Any group, organization or individual that would like to adopt a family, or if a family needs help this Christmas call Nicole at 870-625-0065.
