Eddie Farris, 75, of Evening Shade, died March 22, 2005, at his home. He was born April 20, 1929, in Myron, Ark., to John and Estel Tadlock Farris. He was a retired postmaster at Evening Shade having served 21 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, was a retired volunteer fireman and first responder at Evening Shade, and was a member of First Baptist Church at Evening Shade where he served as deacon and song leader.

Survivors include a son, Tony Farris of Evening Shade; a daughter, Rena Gail Bowser of Evening Shade; three brothers -- Bob Farris of Cave City, Floyd Farris of Batesville, and Ted Farris of Sidney; a sister, Mamie Couch of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren -- Brian Bowser of Melbourne, Donnie Bowser of Evening Shade, and Robin Bowser of Drasco; five great-grandchildren -- Luke Bowser, Ashten Bowser and Matthew Bowser, all of Melbourne, Haven Bowser and Clayton Rider, both of Drasco; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Margaret Kent Farris; a daughter, Shirley Farris; two brothers -- Claude Farris and Coy Farris; and a sister Amie Grimes.

The funeral was March 25 at First Baptist Church in Evening Shade with Larry Weaver officiating. Burial followed in Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.

Pallbearers were Eddie Rogers, Robert Hutchison, Brett Farris, Barry Farris, John Lovelace and Billy Paul Boyle.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Huffmaster, Tom Qualls, Ronald Qualls, Dowl Thomas, Bud Vance and Van Johns.
