Events planned for September
MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce is planning two events for the month of September.
The 18th annual Solemn Old Judge Day will be Sept. 3. Events will include music on Main Street during the day. Any area musician is welcome to play anywhere in town that day.
A car show will be held at Mammoth Spring State Park and shootouts will be held on Main Street by the South Fork Regulators. A fiddle playing and guitar playing contest will be held at the Country Music Theater on Main Street. The day will end with a concert at the theater and a two-step dance at the Mammoth Spring Country Music Hall located south of the city Highway 63.
Crafters and other venders are invited to set up for the days activities. A $10 fee will be required. To seek information about setting up a booth anyone can call Mayor Jean Pace at 625-3378 or 625-3518.
The first ever Spring River Trout Fest will be held Sept. 24 in and around the Mammoth Spring area.
Activities include a trout cooking contest; fishing derby for children 12 and under; beginning fly fishing lessons and a fly casting workshop; a pie baking contest; and quilt show and sale. Times and places for the events will be announced at a later date.
