Harlin F. Parnell, 80, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born June 21, 1925, in Mammoth Spring, the son of the late James Henry Parnell and Elsie Mary Loeffler Parnell. He departed this life July 30, 2005, in Springdale, Ark.
He was married Sept. 21, 1952, in Thayer to Robbie Nell Stark. He was an active member and served as an elder of the Thayer Church of Christ. Anyone who knew Harlin, knew his church was first in his life. He was always willing to help where help was needed, no job being too large or too small.
He had been in the real estate business since 1963 and enjoyed meeting and making friends with people he came in contact with, which were many. He also liked farming and raising cattle.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He will be missed by his church and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Robbie of the home in Mammoth Spring; two sons -- Mike Parnell and wife Julie of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mark Parnell and wife, Carla, of Mammoth Spring; five grandchildren, Angelina McArther and husband Jay of Rock Hill, S.C., Janicka Parnell of Jackson- ville, Fla., Joshua, Seth and Sarah Parnell, all of Mammoth Spring; two great-grandchildren -- Anastaisa and Lance McArther of Rock Hill, S.C.; one brother, Paul Parnell and wife, Jo of Diamond, Mo., two sisters -- Dorothy Smith and Rosie Denton both of Mammoth Spring; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Augusta Honeycutt and five brothers -- Wesley, Leonard, Rudolph, Raymond and Hobart Parnell.
The funeral was Aug. 3 at the Thayer Church of Christ with Erman Croney officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
