On Nov. 5, 1955, N.J. Jake Benton and Bonnie Holloway were married at the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ by Boyd Morgan. Their marriage was witnessed by Adine Cunningham and Bob Coleman.
The couple lived in Salem and then moved to Tulsa, Okla., in 1956. Jake worked in the machine shop at Unit Rig Company. They were transferred to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1958 where he worked for Strato Flex as a machine shop leadman. On Dec. 5, 1960, they were blessed by the birth of their son, Steve.
Ready to return home, they moved back to Salem in June of 1973. Jake worked for the Fulton County Road Department until he retired in 1995. Bonnie has worked at the Salem Family Clinic for the past 29 years.
They have two grandchildren, Kyle, 19, and Makenzi, 11. Steve and his wife, Vickie, live in Truman, Ark.
The family of Jake and Bonnie Benton will hold a come-and-go reception to honor and celebrate the 50 years of their marriage. All friends and family are invited.
The reception will be held at the Salem Church of Christ Nov. 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The couple requests no gifts.
