Thursday, October 20, 2005

MYRTLE -- Couch School Superintendent Rolla Fraley told the school board at the Oct. 11 school board meeting the Missouri School Board Association Policies are in the process of being updated and the policies will be presented at the Nov. 8 school board meeting for approval from the board.

The need to replace the mats in the gym was discussed. Options as to the size and cost of the mats needed was discussed. No decision was made regarding the mats.

Last spring the board applied for a grant through the Missouri Department of Education to be used for playground improvements at the school. As of the meeting last week the board had not heard if the grant had been approved.

The first quarter at the school ended Oct. 12 and school was dismissed at 12:35 p.m. for parent teacher conferences.

The board voted to hire Jimmy Young as a bus driver for the school district for the remainder of the school year.
