DWI drives man to a year in prison

Thursday, September 1, 2005

Drinking and driving will force a Fulton County man to spend a year of his life in prison.

David Allen Mayhan, 54, pleaded no contest to his fourth DWI offense Aug. 22 in Fulton County District Court.

District Court Judge Tim Weaver sentenced Mayhan to six years in state prison, five suspended. Mayhan will also have to pay a $1,500 fine.

According to the Fulton County Clerk's Office, Mayhan has already served 90 days in the Fulton County jail.

The 90 days will count toward his one-year sentence, according to the judgment order.

Mayhan was charged with his fourth DWI after a Dec. 1, 2002, arrest. He was represented in the case by attorney Gray Dellinger of Melbourne.
