Rudolph "Rudy" Loeffler, 92, of?Cherokee Village, Ark., died Sept. 16, 2007, at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1915, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Frank and Cecelia Loeffler, the youngest of seven children.
He married Lucy Jeff on Sept. 2, 1934. They were married for 66 years when Lucy died in 2000.
Rudy worked as a baker in St. Louis and was later transferred to Chicago. Later, he attended electronics school and was an electronics technician for the Zenith Company, WebCor and finally retired from Sola Electric Company in Chicago. He and Lucy retired to Cherokee Village 28 years ago. After retiring, Rudy became involved in Senior Olympics and enjoyed traveling to and entering many events in the Olympics and won many medals for his endeavors. He had an avid interest in poetry and wrote many lovely poems. He was also very involved in the Rock and Mineral Club as an officer and editor for their newsletter for many years. He attended the First Baptist Church in Cherokee Village when he was able.
He is survived by: three children, Barbara (James)?Buyer of Chattanooga, Tenn., Rudolph Jon (Gladys) Loeffler of Sacramento, Calif., and Alice (Paul) Georgian of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; his sister-in-law, Ella Loeffler; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sept. 21 at the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, with Dr. Larry White officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
Pallbearers were Rudy's grandsons.
