The family of Malynne Perry announce her graduation on Dec. 17 from Drury University in Springfield with a bachelor of science degree in history with the status of magna cum laude which requires a 3.75 grade point average or above. Perry had attended UMKC when she graduated from Thayer High School in 1977 and attained 12 credit hours.
In attendance at the graduation were her husband, Tony Perry; her daughters, Vanessa Gail Harvey and Samantha Renea Sandridge; her grandsons, Damon Trent Harvey and Weston Andrew Rogers; her parents, Charles William Gower and Glennie Dean Kalinowski; and fellow UMKC alumnis, Susan Wade and her mother.
Perry has applied to Missouri State University in Springfield for the master's program in history beginning in January of 2006. She plans to retain her job with the state of Missouri and teach college at night and part time.
Perry said, "I thank my husband who always had a meal waiting at midnight, my kids who helped edit my papers and Pam and the Thayer Library who helped get books and articles."
