William Lewis Wright, 78, of Melbourne was arrested Nov. 28 and charged with theft of property after authorities recovered a wallet they think Wright took from a convenience store.
Store employees said Wright falsely claimed he was the rightful owner of a wallet found at the store, according to the Izard County Sheriff's Department.
"Wright initially denied having taken the wallet, but an immediate investigation led to the discovery of the wallet, less its contents, in a roadside park trash container," said Sheriff Tate Lawrence. "Documents from the wallet were found at yet another roadside park."
Lawrence said the money from the wallet was recovered from an unnamed person who said it came from Wright.
