Ina May Chronister, 91, of Alton, Mo., was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Wesco, Mo., and died Nov. 26, 2005, at her home.
She was married to E.J. "Jewell" Chronister on Oct. 10, 1931, and he survives.
Ina and Jewell lived in St. Louis for over 30 years then in several communities in Illinois and Wisconsin, before moving to Alton in 1972. They were both long time members of the First Baptist Church of Alton.
Survivors include her husband, Jewell Chronister; a daughter, Carolyn Belt and husband, Jon, of Alton; two sons, Robert Chronister and wife, Sue of Alton and Vernon Chronister and wife, Joyce, of West Plains; one sister, Dorothy Grissum and husband, Harold, of Alton; three brothers-in-law, Granville Chronister and wife, Callie, of Alton, Duane Chronister and wife, Jean of Sikeston, Mo., Leroy Chronister and wife, Irene, of Alton,; six grandchildren, Craig and Angie Chronister of West Plains, Brian Chronister of Philadelphia, Terry Belt of Chicago, Jill and David Pierce of Chicago, Richard and Regena Chronister of West Plains, Andrew and Kim Chronister of Cape Girardeau; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Tyler Chronister of West Plains, and Veronica and Dennis Pierce of Chicago; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Olive Jackson; one sister, Pearl Klien and two brothers, Earl and Kenneth Jackson.
The funeral service was held Nov. 28 at Alton First Baptist Church with Barry Pfister officiating. Burial followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, Mo.
