THAYER -- Alumni homecoming activities this weekend in Thayer will include the class of 1955 celebrating their 50-year class reunion.
On May 19, 1955, 40 Thayer High School seniors received their diplomas from superintendent C.E. Pepmiller, principal Jack Efurd and school board president Dr. C.N. Cooper.
Activities for the class will kick off Oct. 14 when the class will ride in the Homecoming Parade down School House Hill. Later they will gather at the football field for the game. After the game the class will attend a mixer at the elementary school cafeteria.
A breakfast is planned for Saturday morning at the Warm Fork Restaurant. The class will then adjourn to Billie and Dick Mooney's home for reminiscing, a class meeting, group photos and snacks.
"We will honor our six deceased classmates, Bobby Schutt, Maxine Cline Stuart, Granville Evans, Bob Hamilton, Joe Robinson and Vernon Thornton," Mooney said.
Saturday evening the class will attend the alumni dinner at the high school. Entertainment after the dinner will be be provided by Millie Shreves Cotton and Ronnie Griffith from the class of 1955.
"We are looking forward to a great 2005 Homecoming," Mooney said.
