Patrick Malone, 55, died Nov. 10, 2005, at his home in Nampa, Idaho
He was born on Aug. 7, 1950, in Thayer, Mo., the third child of Earl Dean Malone and Mary Violet Mulkey.
He grew up in Gretna and graduated from Gretna High School in Gretna, Neb.
He graduated from Southwest Community College in Lincoln Neb., with a degree in drafting. He also attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He met Barbara Carol Weed of Rice Lake, Wis., while she was in the USAF at the Offutt AFB in Nebraska. They were married December 15, 1973, in the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Gretna. They have lived in Lincoln, and Omaha, Neb., and Nampa, Idaho.
Over the years Malone worked as a mechanical engineer and in car sales.
His hobbies included fly fishing, camping and racing a 1967 Chevy Nova. He also enjoyed listening to music, high-end audio gear and playing LP records.
Survivors include Barbara, his wife of 32 years of Nampa, Idaho; a daughter Amanda (Nicholas) Sheraden, and grandson, Scott Alexander of Nampa, Idaho; a daughter Kristen (Aric) Baloun, and granddaughter Aidyn Lindsay of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister Mary Eckstrom of Omaha Neb.; and brother Mike Malone of Tampa, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Judy.
Malone was like his father in many ways. He loved people and good conversation. He could talk to anyone, about anything, at any time. His family and many friends meant everything to him. Patrick was a man of strong faith and love of God. He never asked "why me?" during his illness. Instead he used it as an opportunity to praise God and count his many blessings.
His special love was music and playing records on his stereo for his friends. He is now home with Jesus listening to music in the "sweet spot." We will all miss you deeply, Pat.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Cremation Society of Idaho.
