Area parades slated

Salem will hold its Christmas Lights on the Square and Parade Dec. 5 at the Courthouse Square in Salem.

The parade will wind through town and around the square and be coordinated with the lighting of the Christmas lights at the square.

The Mammoth Spring Christmas Parade will be Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.

The parade is sponsored annually by the Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce. Lineup for the parade will be at 1 p.m. at the Mammoth Spring City Park.

Awards for the best floats will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. Cash awards are sponsored by area banks.

Trophies will be given to the best dressed motor bike and rider, best dressed horse and rider and best dressed marching and performing troupe. Bands will be given $50 each.

Flag troops, horses and riders, antique cars and motorcycles are all invited to participate.

Mammoth Spring Mayor Jean Pace said there will be an open house held all day at the newly remodeled police station in conjunction with the Christmas Parade.

The police station is located at 165 South Third Street. The only time the open house will be closed is during the parade.

Ash Flat will hold its Christmas parade Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. on Main Street.

Hardy will be holding its annual Christmas Parade Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. in downtown Hardy. The theme for the parade is "An Old Fashioned Hometown Christmas."

Hardy is asking for marching, drum and fife, bagpipe bands and others interested in being in the parade to call City Hall at 856-3811. The deadline for sign-up is Dec. 5 at 4 p.m.

Hardy was also provided new decorations this year that will be on display in Loberg Park, Dr. Thompson Park and along Main Street.
