A 14-point defecit in the fourth period was not too big a hill for the Mount Pleasant Bluebirds to climb Nov. 7, as they rallied to a 68-64 road-win over the homestanding Mammoth Spring Bears in non-conference action.
The Bluebirds' Keaton Johnson (four points) nailed two free throws at the 10-second mark of the final period to stake Mount Pleasant to a three-point lead, and Alex Billingsley sealed the deal with an additional charity toss with two ticks on the clock.
Billingsley tossed in 29 points and grabbed seven boards for the Bluebirds, while Corey Simpson exploded for 31 points to pace Mount Pleasant. Justin Gillihan added two points and seven rebounds, with Steven Rollins posting two points.Cameron Kent led Mammoth Spring with 24 points, while Addison Guy hit for 14, and Aaron Shipp 12. Zach Sims followed with eight, while Segan Underwood added six points.
On the girls' side of things, Mammoth Spring evened things up by taking a tight 52-47 victory over the Lady Bluebirds.Ann Whiteside powered the Lady Bears with 20 points, Jodie Walsh added 10, while Melanie Maguffee hit for eight. Courtney Risner finished with five, and Madison Busch tallied four, while Sunnie Rogers, Heather Watson and Kayly Vest had two points apiece.
Erica Biard scored a game-high 25 points for Mount Pleasant, while Ariane Qualls added 11, and Ashley Smith six. Codi Womack finished with three points, with Niki Edge canning two.
