Izard county men found in contempt

Two individuals appeared in Izard County District Court Nov. 18 to answer charges and were found in contempt of court for appearing under the influence of illegal drugs.

Matthew Travis Hoskinds, 19, of Melbourne was found in contempt and sentenced to 30 days in jail along with 10 additional day from a previous contempt charge relating to his appearing in court under the influence of methamphetamine.

Hoskinds began serving his 40-day sentence immediately. Hoskinds also faces charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance and a minor in possession of alcohol and is scheduled to appear in court to answer those charges on a later date.

Preston Leroy Looney, 36, of Oxford was also found in contempt of court for appearing in court under the influence of illegal drugs.

Looney was ordered incarcerated for a 10-day period and began serving his sentence immediately.

Charles Ray White, 55, of Ash Flat was arrested Nov. 14 on multiple charges which include driving while intoxicated (second offense), driving on a suspended license, refusal to submit to a chemical test, possession of a firearm by a certain individual and a hot check warrant from Horseshoe Bend. White posted bond Nov. 11 in the amount of $8,400 and was released from Izard County Detention Facility.

Noel James Loosey, 41, of Calico Rock was arrested Nov. 16 on out of county warrants involving harassment and criminal trespass. Loosey was released to Marion County authorities on Nov. 17.

James Bernard Smith, 33, of Melbourne was arrested Nov. 20 on a charge of domestic battery third degree following a disturbance at a residence on Highway 58. Smith posted bond in the amount of $1,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
