Nevia Ethel Tucker was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Couch, Mo., daughter of Joe Honey-cutt and Iva Cox Honeycutt. She died Dec. 4, 2007, in West Plains, Mo. at the age of 89.

She was married March 12, 1926, in Alton, Mo., to Olon Tucker who preceded her in death Jan. 11, 2001.

She was of the Protestant faith and a true example of what a homemaker was during the years she rasied and cared for her family. She enjoyed her favorite pastime of quilting, gardening, canning and preserving food and earned the title of an excellent cook.

She is survived by: six children, Rosalie Wisehart and husband,?Joe of Willard, Mo., Janet Alford and husband, Steve of Thayer, Carol Grimes and husband, Larry of Thayer, Mary Kay Shehorn and husband Marlin of Russellville, Ark., Robert Olon Tucker and wife, Gina of Thayer and Joe Dan Tucker and wife, Carrie of Thayer; 19 grandchildren, Rhonda Orrell, Linda Suggs, Beverly Rouse, Natalie Alford, Stoney Cypret, Johnny Cypret, Justin Grimes, Christy Grimes, Danielle Shehorn, Matthew She-horn, Kristin Shehorn, Winston Tucker, Travis Tucker, Nicholas Tucker, Josh Atkisson, Melissa Miller, Jacob Tucker, Jesse Tucker and Jana Tucker; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother,?Otto Honeycutt and wife, Grace of Thayer; two sisters, Neva DeVault of Blue Springs, Mo, and Neta Frase of Alton; one sister-in-law, Maxine Hackett of Thayer; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Olon; one son, Richard Tucker; and one brother, Roscoe Honeycutt.

Funeral services were held Dec. 7 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Honeycutt officiating. Burial was in the New Salem Cemetery near Couch, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
