Marjorie E. Nicely, 88, of Cherokee Village died at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center on March 16, 2006.
She was born Sept. 13, 1917, in St. Joseph, Mo.
She was a former resident of Hannibal, Mo., for 35 years and taught 25 years in their public school system.
She and her husband moved to Cherokee Village in 1973.
She was a member of the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church, served as an EMT for eight years on the Cherokee Village Volunteer Ambulance Service and later as treasurer on their Board of Directors.
She had been a member of the Cherokee Village Ladies 18-Hole Golf Association, Cherokee Village Square Dancers, and Bowling League; plus assisted with preparation of the Village Directory for many years.
In 1998 she was honored for her volunteer endeavors by the Cherokee Village Property Owners Association.
Survivors include her husband, J. Robert Nicely; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Russell Stokes of Cherokee Village; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence T. and Hattie Bell; brothers, David and Carol Bell and a son William Robert Nicely.
A memorial service is scheduled at the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church on March 23 at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
