Ruby Maxine Jewell was born the daughter of John Mitchell Day and Floia Alba Bolton Day in Brandsville, Mo., in 1928, and died Jan. 9, 2008, at the age of 79.
She was united in marriage Nov. 2, 1946, at Koshkonong, Mo., to Albert "Ted"?Jewell, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2001.
She was a member of the Shiloh Grand Gulf Church.
She is survived by: four children,?Kenneth Jewell and wife, Carol of Grand Island, Neb., Joyce Green and husband, David of Foley, Ala., Jackie Mowdy and husband, Marlon of Wilson, Ark., and Alba Diane Scarbrough and husband, Fred of Koshkonong; five grandchildren, David Jewell, Dianna Leisinger, Kenneth Green, Heather Wallace and Alisha Edison; one step-grandson, B.J. McCradic; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Faye Buchanan of West Plains, Mo.; and several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Ted; one step-grandson, Jesse McCradic; one sister, Gladys Dixon; and one brother, Clifford Day.
Funeral services were held Jan. 12 in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Church near Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
