Viola man takes position

Thursday, February 22, 2007

Sean Richmond of Viola, has taken a position in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, working as a meteorologist for The Weather Network. Richmond completed his degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, but credits his love for science to his uncle, Bill Hilmes, and his high school science teacher, Joe Smith.

The Weather Network and its French sister station, MétéoMédia are Canada's only English and French specialty channels devoted to Canada's favorite topic of conversation - the weather.

Using their state-of-the-art technology Richmond can issue weather forecasts for the entire country down to a ten square kilometer grid - making it one of the most advanced and highest resolution forecasting systems in the world. The Weather Network and MétéoMédia reach 10.1 million households representing 99 percent of Canadian cable and satellite subscribers, making it among the most widely distributed television services. Canadians chose The Weather Network as the television station with the best weather forecasts in Canada (2005-2006).
