Jack Morris Gillespie of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born January 5, 1926 in Mammoth Spring, and died on May 13, 2007 at his home in Overland Park.
He was the son of James Doak and Hila Morris Gillespie of Thayer.
Jack believed strongly in family ties and loved assisting his family whenever possible. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling. He was the business manager and later, manager, of The Carriage Club of Kansas City, Missouri for many years. After retirement, he lived in Mammoth Spring on Spring River where he hosted many family reunions. He returned to the Kansas City area a few years ago.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his brother, James Wallace.
He is survived by: his wife, Alma; one daughter, Patricia Porter (Carl) of Spokane, Wash.; two sons, Gary Doak, of Overland Park and John Morris (Ruth), of Okla.; one sister, Catherine Marx (Richard), of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; cousins; former wife and long-time friend, Carlene; and many other beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held in July at the United Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring, Ark.
