Carlos Dean Bowers was born the son of Charley William Bowers and Margaret Louise Brazeal Bowers on March 21, 1951, in Thayer, Mo., and died Aug. 14, 2007, at his home in Thayer.
He was united in marriage Sept. 29, 1972, at Thayer to Judy Lea Mask.
Carlos was a conductor for the BNSF?Railroad, working a total of 34 years. His favorite pastime was the hours spent with his only grandchild, a granddaughter, Sydney, who he fondly referred to as, "Papa's buddy."
He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many hours surrounded by mother nature. He especially enjoyed the thrill of bow hunting and shared this passion with many as their valued teacher and mentor of the sport.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home in Thayer; two daughters, Carlisa Lynn Sample and husband, Jack of Jonesboro, Ark., and Melissa Elaine Turner and husband James of Jonesboro, Ark.; one granddaughter, Sydney Sample of Jonesboro; three brothers, Calvin Bowers and wife Janet of Thayer, Charles "Dennis"?Bowers and wife, Vicky of Conway, Mo., and Claude "Bill" Bowers and wife, Kathryn of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one sister, Carolyn Bramlett of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a special aunt, Norma Jean Elliott of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 nephews; eight nieces; seven great-nephews; eight great-nieces; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons.
Funeral services were held Aug. 18 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Robinson and Dale Kester officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery at Thayer, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
