Votes tallied

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Super Tuesday brought super storms but election voting and the polling process persevered.

Although obstacles presented themselves voters turned out despite tornados, rain, hail and high winds.

"The power went out in some places," Fulton County Clerk Vickie Bishop said. "But all the polling places were able to close out and bring everything in," she said.

According to Bishop, Cherokee Village polling officials were forced to take an alternate route when delivering election results due to the tornado devastation and storm damage in Highland on Highway 62/412. "Overall, everything went OK," she said.

Hillary Clinton dominated the polls with a total of 1,346 votes cast, leading Barack Obama by over 1,000 votes. Obama trailed Clinton with 236 votes; John Edwards 53; Mike Gravel with 6; Christopher Dodd 5; Bill Richardson 4; Joe Biden 4; Dennis Kucinich 1; and 20 uncommitted.
