James Henry Hurtt, was born June 28, 1931, at Mammoth Spring, Ark., the son of Arvel Monroe Hurtt and Flora Whiteside Hurtt. He died Feb. 13, 2008, at his home in Mammoth Spring, Ark., at the age of 76.

He was united in marriage on Dec. 20, 1952, in Randolph County, Ark., to Mary Rose Breit Hurtt who preceded him in death July 20, 2001.

He was a veteran, serving his country in th United States Army and was a member of the Mammoth Spring VFW?Post 7831.

He was a Civil Service employee working in Fort Carson, Colo., for many years.

He is survived by: four children, John Hurtt of Mammoth Spring, Rick Hurtt of Kansas, James Hurtt of Mammoth Spring and Kathy Caldwell of Illinois; three grandchildren, Matthew, Danny and Stephen Hurtt; one brother, Charles Hurtt of Mammoth Spring; four sisters, Ann Haney, Marie Wilcox, Imogene Revelle and June Case, all of Mammoth Spring; several nieces; nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Rose Hurtt; his parents; three brothers, Ronald, Arvel Jr., and Jessie Lee Hurtt; and two sisters, Mary Louise Hurtt and Ila Corbett.

Funeral services were held Feb. 16 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo. with Lee Moses officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring, with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
