Sherman Ramsey, of West Plains, Mo., formerly of Thayer, Mo., was born April 18, 1916, at Thayer, Mo., the son of the late James and Ida Everett Ramsey. He died Oct. 15, 2005, at the age of 89 years.
He was a member of Koshkonong Freewill Baptist Church, the VFW and was a mason.
He was an Army Veteran seeing action in Scotland, England, France and Germany in WWII. He was decorated with EAME Campaign Medal and two Battle Bronze Stars. In 1974 at Koshkonong, Mo., he married Glena Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Glena Ramsey of the home in West Plains; two step-sons, Billy Arnold of Pottersville, Mo., and Tommy McGee of San Diego, Calif.; three daughters, Genelle Ferrebee of Payton, W. Va., Sherry Walker of Washington, and Eulah Anderson of Port Angeles, Wash.; two step-daughters, Vinita Lief of Fulton, Ill., and Siretta Barnhardt of Monon, Ind.; one brother, Everett Ramsey of Batesville; two sisters, Allene Masters of New Castle, Okla., and Peggy Odglen of Swartz Creek, Mich.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
His father, mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
The funeral service was held Oct. 19 in the Carr Montgomery Chapel with Bro. John Holes-apple officiating. Interment was in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of the Carr-Montgomery Funeral Home of Thayer, Mo.
