Max French, died June 30, 2006, in Cave City, Ark., at the age of 76.

He was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Many Islands, Ark, the son of the late Les and Alpha Rogers French.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Elliott French.

She was a self-employed local painter and was a member of the Cave City First Free Will Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, liked to play the fiddle and talk, enjoyed his cats and flowers. He was a straightforward and a man of his word.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Elliott French; two sons, Dwight French of Strawberry Plains, Tenn., and Sears French of Morresbury, Tenn.; four daughters, Barbara French of Kansas City, Mo, Cindi Miller of Cave City, Candi holman of Sulphur Rock, and Cheri French of Cave City; two brothers, Kenneth French of Agnos, and Billy Joe French of Cherokee Village; one sister, Barbara Evans of Hardy; 17 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.

He was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson, Aaron French.

The funeral services were held on July 3 at the Cave City First Free Will Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Jeff Holland and Bro. O.C. Wright officiating.

Burial followed in the French Cemetery in Hardy, under the direction of the Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Tim McKay, Raymond Presley, John Ables, Calvin Lassiter, Don Ferguson and Archie Wilkes.

Honorary pallbearers were The Master's Men Fellowship Group of the Cave City First Free Will Baptist Church.
