James Christopher Le Beau, 65, of Cherokee Village, died June 25, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
He was born June 12, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Christopher C. Le Beau and Alice (De Bert) Le Beau.
He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Marie Michaelis on May 3, 1965, in Illinois.
Le Beau served in the U.S. Army from November 1958 to February 1964.
He was in the 82nd Airborne Division and 101st Airborne Division and 1st Airborne BG 327th Infantry. He served as a paratrooper, with 87 jumps, and received his parachute badge, MNC (Rifle M-1 EX Carbine), MM (Pistol Cal. 45).
He moved to Cherokee Village with his family 35 years ago from St. Louis. He served as president of the Highland Lions Club, was a member of the Spring River R/C Model Club, the American Legion, the Rebel Bass Club, the Spring River Antique Car Club, and the St. Louis Archery Club.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
He worked on construction and as a chimney sweep for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Marie Le Beau of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Scott Le Beau and Patricia Renee of Marietta, Ga.; four brothers, Harry Le Beau of Florida John and Ed Le Beau, both of St. Louis and Larry Le Beau of Washington, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Haynes of St. Louis and Gwen and Joe Guccione of Springfield, Mo.; one granddaughter, Stephane Ann Le Beau of Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Dungan and Betty Lee and one brother, Donald Le Beau.
A memorial mass was held on June 30 with a rosary service at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village. Father Kevin Atunzu officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
