Richard Gordon Cooper Jr., of Henderson, Ark., son of the late Richard Gordon and Cecile Agatha (Raymond) Cooper was born March 18, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. He died July 2, 2007, at his home at the age of 75.
He was united in marriage to Marlene Mary Meckes on June 26, 1992, at Markham, Ill. ?He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked as a pipefitter for various construction companies.
He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Cooper was a member of the Pipefitters Local 597 in Chicago, Ill., and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by: his wife, Marlene Cooper of Henderson; a daughter, Remona Laursen of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; four sisters, Bobbie Pizzaoment of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Judy O'Sullivan of Orland Park, Ill., Carol of Illinois and Jeanie of Illinois; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Ricky Cooper; and a daughter, Christina Cooper.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
