MYRTLE -- The Couch School Board accepted the resignation of board member Steve Honeycutt at their Aug. 10 school board meeting. Honeycutt said he is moving out of the district.
The board discussed filling the position and voted to set a deadline for accepting letters of interest on Sept. 6. They gave some requirements for anyone interested in the open position. They said a board member must have been a citizen of the United States for at least one year. He must be a taxpayer in the Couch School District and be at least 24 years old.
Anyone interested must submit a letter of interest to Donna Honeycutt, secretary of the board, stating his reason for interest in the position.
In other school board action, Superintendent Tom Bull told the board the septic tank problem at the school has been repaired. He said a new school bus had been delivered and new gym mats had been installed.
Randall Eagleman was hired as high school principal for the upcoming school year. Joy Collins and Joan Benz were approved by the board as substitute cooks.
The next meeting of the Couch School Board will be Sept. 11.
