ALTON -- The city of Alton will hold a cleanup week Oct. 9-13.
According to city officials, this does not include any end-of- life electronics (old computers, TVs and microwaves).
City workers will not pick up old tires, steel, concrete or any other construction or tear-down material. No boards with nails will be picked up.
City officials are also asking that tree limbs and yard waste be kept separate from other pickup items.
Items that need to be picked up should be curbside by Oct. 12.

On Oct. 14 the South Central Solid Waste Management District will hold a hazardous waste drop-off in downtown Myrtle from 9 a.m. to noon.
Paint, including latex, oil based and aerosol cans, will be included in the drop-off. Used motor oil and antifreeze, batteries and pesticides and herbicides can also be dropped off.
Electronics such as old computers, TVs and microwaves will be allowed at the drop-off site.
No containers filled with more than five gallons will be accepted.
