Otho T. Powell, 92, of Granite City, Ill., died Aug. 10, 2006, at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
He was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Mammoth Spring. He was employed as a shipping clerk by National Lead in Granite City from July 1955 to August 1977 and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was married to the former Freddie Michaels in July 1935. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Troy (Helen) Powell of Granite City; one daughter Emily Taylor of Pleasanton, Calif., one sister, Rachael Cowen of Shenandoah, Iowa; special friend, Dale Fletcher, six grandchildren, Karlene (Alan) Whitt, Craig (Amy) Powell, Christina McComas, Diane Freeman, Michael Freeman and Beverly Kreuer; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Matti (Blackburn) Powell and his wife.
The funeral services were held Aug. 13 at the Irwin Chapel Funeral Home in Granite City with the Rev. Carl Watkins officiating. Graveside services were held Aug. 14 in the White Chapel Cemetery in Spingfield, Mo. with arrangements under the direction of Irwin Chapel of Granite City, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
