The Little Dribblers basketball camp, along with the Elementary Shooting camp, scheduled for June 18-20, will not be held, according to Brian Ostermann, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly basketball team, which was hosting the camps.
Ostermann said those who have registered, or planned to register to attend either of these camps, are invited to attend the Elementary Skills camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 25-27, or the final Little Dribblers camp from noon to 12:30 p.m. June 25-27.
The Elementary Skills camp will teach boys and girls in first through sixth grades basic basketball fundamentals, with primary emphasis being placed on passing, shooting, dribbling and footwork.
There will be several contests and awards, and each child will receive a Grizzly basketball or a free T-shirt.
The Little Dribblers camp will teach boys and girls age 3 through 6 ball handling skills, focusing on passing, dribbling and catching the ball.
Each participant will receive a free ball.
Cost of the camps is $30 for the Little Dribblers and $70 for the Elementary Skills camp.
Registration forms are available by calling the Grizzly basketball office at 417-255-7993, or by stopping by the office on the second floor of the West Plains Civic Center's east side, or by visiting the Grizzly basketball Web site at www.wp.missouristate.edu/Grizzly/bb. and clicking on the Basketball Camps link underneath the Grizzly head logo.
The Grizzly Basketball "2-in-1" Specialty camp is set for July 23-26 at the West Plains Civic Center.
The four-day camp focuses on shooting and competition exercises for boys and girls in grades three through 12, according to Ostermann.
The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, with lunch and dinner being served to campers. Participants who plan to stay overnight will sleep in the Grizzly House residence hall on the Missouri State-West Plains campus.
Cost of the camp is $195, which includes meals.
An additional fee will be charged to participants who stay in the Grizzly House.
