Donald LeRoy Stokes, Sr., 76, of Cherokee Village, Ark., formerly of Ham Lake, Minn., died June 20, 2007. He was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Leonard, Minn., the son of the late William Stokes and Myrtle (Potter)?Stokes.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
He worked many years as a foreman for a lumber company and also worked in different capacities in the construction industry. He moved to Cherokee Village four years ago from Minnesota and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
He is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Mary of the home; four sons, Donald Jr. (Trudy), Leslie (Marie) Thomas, and Tim (Wendy); five daughters, Phyllis (Bruce), Susan (Randy), Barbara, Peggy (Dwaine), Faye (Jeff); grandchildren, Troy, Micky, Crystal, Bobbi Jo, Jason,?Jenny, Shawn, Marisa, Ryan, Nicole, Dawn, Michelle, Jesse, Angela, Andrew, Travis, Nathan, Jessica, Isabell, Harrison, Kami and Abby; great-grandchildren, Cody, Katlyn, Brooks, Mitchell, Levi, Allison, Mary Jane, Nevaeh, Elijah, Jayden, Tyler, Joclyn, Bailey, Johnny; one brother, Frank Stokes; one sister, Elizabeth Lucas; and many other relatives and dear friends.
A rosary service was held June 26 at the Tri-County Funeral?Home in ?Highland. Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
