Edward Jerome Shaw Jr., 82, of Horseshoe Bend died Oct. 17, 2006, at his home in Horseshoe Bend. He was born on March 25, 1924, the son of Edward Jerome Sr. and Viola H. Susralski Shaw in Chicago, Ill.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he served during World War II and also during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Arkansas and Illinois Bar Association, presided as the city attorney of Horseshoe Bend for several years, and was a member of the Eagles, the Horseshoe Bend Loft and Saint Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lea Shaw of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kori Strauser of Brockwell; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Richard Hathcock of Malvern, Ark., Debra and John Denbroeder of Ingleside, Ill., Kathryn Criswell of West Plains, Mo., and Carolyn West of West Plains; 10 grandchildren, Briana Denbroeder and Kevin Denbroeder, both of Ingleside, Ill., James Housman of Cherokee Village, Jessica Brink of Cherokee Village, Stephen Helton of Great Lakes, Ill., Ashley Helton of West Plains, Jonathan Strauser of Brockwell, Tyler West of West Plains, Jodi Strauser of Abilene, Texas, and Justin Strauser of Abilene; two great-grandchildren, Zac Brink and Logan Brink, both of Cherokee Village; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Norma Jean Shaw.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
A memorial fund has been set up called the Edward Shaw Scholarship Fund at Bancorp South in Horseshoe Bend.
