Thomas William (Tom) Tucker was born in Mena, Ark., on June 29, 1935, to Clyde and Addie (Cox) Tucker. He died at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat on Nov. 28, 2007, at the age of 72.

Tom, as everyone called him, graduated Wewoka Oklahoma High School in 1953. He entered the Army in August of 1953. He served with the 101st Airborne in Toole, France as sergeant first class until he discharge in 1962. After his discharge he served as a police officer in Kansas City, Mo., and Oklahoma City, Okla. He was owner of Enid Finance in Enid, Okla., as well as his own car wash. Tom also was sports announcer and communications director at KNID radio in Enid, Okla. Tom loved sports and never met a stranger.

In 1980 Tom married Irene Green and moved to Fort Smith, Ark., where he worked for the radio station and had Royal Coach Car Wash. While there he coached a girls softball team called the royal coach sluggers, they won first in the state of Arkansas and fifth in the nationals. In 1988 he went to work for MS carriers in Memphis Tennessee and worked there for twelve years until he became ill in 2000. Tom was very active in the moose lodge, Elks lodge # 2539 in Enid, the Cherokee Village Elks Lodge and was also the bingo chairman.

He is survived by: his wife, Irene; two daughters, Thomye and Kyle Black of Enid, Okla., Rita and Gary Sik of Dickson, Tenn.; three sons, Mark and Debbie Tucker of Russeville, Ark., Michael Tucker of Enid, Okla. and Dewayne and Tammy Tucker of Belleview, Tenn.; two step daughters, Tammy and John Belcher of Imboden, Ark. and Shelly and Dennis Gates of Caledonia, Miss.; three brothers, Herman, Clyde and Gary Tucker; two sisters, Sharon and Tommy Giles and Melinda Azlin; one aunt, Anna Foster; eight grandsons; seven granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in Heath Oak Hill Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Tom's honor to the funeral home to help with expenses. Arrangements were under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Highland.
