Robert Nicely, 91, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Nov. 28, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of Clyde Willis and Jemma (Zimmerman) Nicely.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 43 years, was a member of the NARFE, the Lions Club and was an EMT volunteer. He served on the Architectural Advisory Committee, edited and published the Village Directory for 17 years and was recognized for his volunteerism. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and square dancing and was a member and former treasurer of the Cherokee Village Methodist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Russell Stokes of Cherokee Village; one nephew, Bob Hubbard of St. Charles, Mo.; and one niece, Janice Rupp of Hannibal, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Marjorie (Bell) Nicely; one son, William Robert Nicely; and a sister, Glenwyn Hubbard.
Funeral services were held Dec. 1 at the Smith Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo. Burial followed in the Grand View Burial Park in?Hannibal with arrangements under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home of Hannibal.
No local services are planned. Local arrangements are by Tri-County Funeral Home of Hardy.
