Archie Richard Vest, age 91, of Madison, Ill., formerly of Alton, Mo., was born May 31, 1915, near Greer, Mo. and died April 25, 2007, in the Caseyville Nursing Center in Caseyville, Ill.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Survivors include: his wife Virginia; three children, Mayetta "Jo"?Reed and husband Gary of Collinsville, Ill., Richard Vest and wife Debbie of Granite City, Ill., and Billy Vest and wife Dee of Gainesville, Mo.; five grandchildren, David Reed and wife Melissa of Edwardsville, Ill., Christopher Reed and wife Ginger of Troy, Ill., Kimberly Robert and husband Robert of Carlyle, Ill., Anne Vest of Granite City,?Ill., Nicholas Daniels and wife Jessica of Granite City, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley and Hannah Robert, Micayla Klein, Callie Daniels, Daniel Joshua and Garrison Reed; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Henry and Josephine Wallace-Vest; two sisters, Othel Allen and Oma Apple; five brothers, Herbert Vest, Troy Vest, Bill Vest, Lawrence Vest, and Wallace Vest.
Services were held on April 28 in the Clary Chapel, with burial following in the Bailey Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, Mo.
