Rathelee McGhee was born the son of Waymon McGhee and Effie Rogers McGhee on Nov. 21, 1925, in Myrtle, Mo., and died April 25, 2007, in Couch, Mo., at the age of 81.
He was united in marriage Aug. 2, 1945, in Pocahontas, Ark., to Rachel Cypret.
He was a member of the Centerpont Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years, serving as trustee for 30 years. Besides being a farmer and carpenter, he was a school bus driver for the Couch School District for 34 years.
He is survived by: his wife, Rachel of the family home in ?Couch: three children, Gale Weber, Gary McGhee and wife, Vicki and Janet Roberts and husband, Ray, all of Couch; one daughter-in-law, Joan McGhee of Beebe, Ark.; six grandchildren, Stephanie Difani and husband, Byron and Kristi Rush and husband Chris, all of Beebe, Ark., Brad McGhee and wife, Lisa of Mountain View, Mo., Lisa Davidson and husband, Bill of Imperial, Mo., Danny Weber and wife, Kathy of Rushville, Ill., and Nathan Roberts of Couch; 10 great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Darci, Kendra, Eric, Kailee, Carson, Brett, Blake, Brennen and Braidon; three sisters-in-law, Lurene McGhee of Thayer, Lena McGhee Johnson of Wright City, Mo., and Imogene McGhee of Doniphan Mo.; three brothers-in-law, Pete Redburn of Alton, Mo., Henry Johnson of Wright City, ?Mo. and Bill Sikes of French Village, ?Mo.; many nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sons, Duane McGhee and Bryant McGhee; three brothers, Ralph, Carl and Gene McGhee; six sisters, Olie McGhee, Lola Brewer, Louise Mills, Pauline Johnson, June Redburn Gusta Sikes; and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy??Mills and Barm Brewer.
Funeral services were held April 28 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial followed in the Cotton Creek Cemetery, Couch, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
