OREGON COUNTY -- Five Oregon County residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident south of West Plains Jan. 26.
Trooper D.A. Huffman said the accident occurred at 9:40 p.m. on PP Highway, nine miles south of West Plains.
Huffman reported a 2003 Ford Focus driven by Orville D. Doran, 16, of Couch ran off the road. Doran was injured in the accident and was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. He was issued a ticket for failing to drive on the right half of the road.
Passengers in the Doran vehicle who received injures were Nickolas W. Allen, 15; Amelia J. Bamgarden, 17; Kristopher A. Frillman, 17; and David A. Tate, 17; all of Thayer. All suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Huffman said all five people were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Two Alton teenagers were injured in a one-vehicle accident Jan. 27 at 9:45 a.m. on County Road 125, five miles north of Alton, according to Trooper R.T. Rees.
Rees reported that Cora D. Hurtado, 16, suffered serious injuries when she lost control of the 1992 Chevrolet she was driving and ran off the road, striking a tree.
A passenger in the Hurtado vehicle, Kathryn M. Porter, 14, received moderate injuries in the accident. Rees said both teens were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Both girls were taken to OMC in West Plains where Porter was treated for her injuries and released. Hurtado was transferred to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
