Norman C. James, 82, of Alexander, Ark., died Feb. 18, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1924, at Cedar Grove, Ark., the son of Dewey and Belle (Bennett) James.
He was a graduate of Cave City High School; graduated from Golden Gate College in San Francisco, Calif. with a Bachelors of Arts degree; retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service; and was of the Baptist faith. He attended the Avilla Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Faye Weaver James, of the home; one son, Norman Keith James of Alexander, Ark.; two granddaughters, Misty Rankin of Licking, Mo., and Crystal James of Benton, Ark.; one half-brother, Tommy James of Batesville; one half-sister, Ethel Tigue, of Aminity, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Delos James, George James and Dewey James.
The funeral services were held Feb. 21 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Carroll Kinley officiating. Burial followed in the James Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
Pallbearers were Bobby Weaver, Jerry Weaver, Thomas Wood, Dennis Wood, Mitchell Gardner and Michael Gardner.
