Alpha Garrison, 89, was born April 6, 1917, in Gatewood, Mo., the daughter of the late Samuel Williams and Nancy Brewer Williams.
She died Feb. 16, 2007, in Thayer, Mo.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 8, 1933, in Myrtle, Mo., to Jesse W. Garrison who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1991.
Besides being a homemaker, she was a business lady.
Along with her husband, Jesse, they owned and operated livestock auctions in Pocahontas and Mammoth Spring, Ark., as well as Thayer, Mo., for many years.
She was also involved in their farm operation, working long and hard hours.
She was known as a talented and wonderful cook, cooking many meals for hired hands and family.
She was a member of Byrd Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by: three children, Richard Garrison and wife, Jewell of Myrtle, Mo., Doris Summers and husband, James of Myrtle, Mo.; and Joe Garrison and wife, Teresa of Myrtle, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kim O'Neill and husband Fred, Mike Summers and wife Sandy, Deanna Summers, Justin Garrison, Kristin Parker and husband Lucas and Aminta Garrison; eight great-grandchildren, Mikael, Alex, Jill, Sheyenne, Cierra, Jessi, Jake and Ryan; one sister, Edith Hopper; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Jessielee and Patricia Ann Garrison; three brothers, Homer, Oliver and Norman Williams; one sister, Fern Brewer; and two infant brothers.
The funeral services for Alpha Garrison were held on Feb. 18 at the Byrd Freewill Baptist Church at Myrtle, Mo., with Joe Garrison and Fred O'Neill officiating.
Burial followed in the Byrd Cemetery.
Arangements were made under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, Mo.
