Vernon E. McKinney, 66, of Hardy, formerly of Greenfield and Indian-apolis, died April 5, 2007, in Springfield, Mo. He was born June 21, 1940, in Indianapolis to the late James A. and Evelyn V. (Broadstone) McKinney.

He served in the U.S. Army, retired from Chrysler of Kokomo and worked at Wal-Mart of Ash Flat. He was a former volunteer fireman in Ingalls, a former volunteer for Camp Pearl in La. and a former member of the American Legion. He attended Highland Assembly of God in Arkansas; was a member of the Green-field Assembly of God.

Survivors are: his wife, Susan (Teegarden) McKinney, whom he married June 17, 1988; sons, Scott of Westfield, Jeremy of Baltimore, Md., Shawn of Indianapolis, Brian of Dallas,; daughters, Shannon and Melissa both of Greenfield, and Shamara of Hardy; brother, Morris (Sabra) McKinney of Wilkinson, and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were April 10 at Pasco-Stillinger Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Park Cemetery.
