Charles Kenton "Chuck" Holden, 75, of Highland died Jan. 4, 2007, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Holden was born Feb. 8, 1931, in North Platte, Neb., the son of Leonard Holden Sr. and Adell (Dalli) Holden. He was united in marriage to Ruth Mae Phelps on Aug. 20, 1955.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Hardy High School. Holden served on the Highland School Board for many years and owned and operated Holden and Son Lumber Company in Hardy for over 40 years before retiring in 1997. He was an avid card player, fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Jeff and LaNetta Holden of Highland; a daughter and her husband, Misty and Ty Casey of Highland; two brothers, Leonard Holden Jr. and wife Joyce of Hardy, and Richard Holden of Fredericks-burg, Va.; one sister, Freda Gamblin of Hardy; five grandchildren, Alexis and Skyler Casey, Madalyn, Kendalyn and Gunnar Holden; and many other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth Mae Phelps Holden.
The funeral services were held Jan. 6 at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland with burial following in the Baker Cemetery near Ozark Acres.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
Pallbearers were Danny Collins, Jimmy Russell, Corey Dietsche, Danny Taylor, Lloyd Clouse and Chris Jones.
