Mammoth Spring man charged with assault

Thursday, February 1, 2007

A Mammoth Spring man is facing multiple charges for allegedly assaulting his wife Jan. 14. Angela Deaton, 35, told authorities her husband, Bryan Deaton, 37, physically abused her and made numerous fatal threats throughout a four-day period starting Jan. 14. Jan. 17 Deaton spoke with Mammoth Spring Officer Jamie Turnbough regarding her husband's actions. After speaking with authorities, Deaton gave a voluntary statement describing the abuse she had allegedly endured at the hands of her husband.

Jan. 14 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Deaton said, she and her husband went to Thayer to purchase alcohol and go to a bar. After the couple made their purchases, they went to Club 63. However, in the club parking lot, the two began fighting, and her husband made lewd sexual comments, according to Deaton.

She told authorities her husband said that when they went inside, he would force her to perform sex acts in front of the club patrons.

Deaton said her husband became angered when she refused to go inside. She said once they left the parking lot and began driving toward their residence, he began shouting profanities at her and threatened to wreck their vehicle.

Once at their residence, Deaton said her husband knocked her unconscious, and she did not wake until approximately 1:30 p.m. the following day.

Deaton said when she awoke her husband came into the living room where she was seated, and he again began to act irrationally.

Deaton said her husband stepped on her foot with the heel of his boot, tearing her toenail off, hit her in the face and neck and held her down on the kitchen counter while threatening to kill her.

Once he calmed down, Deaton's husband put her back into their bed and gave her some medication that put her to sleep throughout the rest of the day and evening, she said.

The following Tuesday morning, Deaton said her husband assaulted her again. According to her statement, he hit her in the head with a piece of lumber, saying, "You always ruin my fun."

Following Deaton's statement, given at approximately 5 p.m. Jan. 17, Bryan Deaton was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threatening. As of press time, Deaton was still incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail.
