Eunice Laverne Johnson, 67, of Alton, Mo., was born July 27, 1939, in Alton, Mo., and died Jan. 27, 2007.
She was united in marriage to Noel Gene Johnson on Aug. 9, 1956.
She enjoyed southern gospel and blue grass gospel music, was a very talented piano player, a very good seamstress and wonderful cook who enjoyed making special things for her family and friends.
She was saved at a revival at the age of 15 and was a life-long member of the Nebo Pentecostal Church.
She and Noel Johnson sang for many years with their friends, James and Norma Johnson, as "The Johnson Singers," traveling many miles together ministering in song.
She is survived by: her husband, Noel; her daughter, Karen Sue Rains and husband Don of Stockton, Mo.; her son Kelly Gene Johnson and wife Pam of Alton; four grandchildren, Stanton Rains and wife, Angie, Kenton Rains and wife Jennifer, Clayton Rains, Kaley Jo Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Weston and Preston Rains; five brothers, Lonnie Smith and wife Ramona, Mike Smith, Dennis Smith and wife Felicia, Ronnie Smith, Dwayne Smith and wife Tonya; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kennemer, Nadine Barton and husband Millard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Dorothy Frances Huggins-Smith; her parents-in-law, Claudie and Lottie Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Harold Kennemer.
The funeral services were held on Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Alton Assembly of God Church with Bro. Bill Bales officiating.
Burial followed in the Cave Springs Cemetery with arrangements being made under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton.
