Viola students attend convention

Thursday, December 28, 2006

Tessa Burden and Misha Batterton of Viola had their photograph made with a new 2007 Tundra full size Toyota pickup truck during the 2006 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., which was attended by more than 50,000 people. Burden and Batterton are members of the Viola FFA Chapter.

Toyota's focus at the National FFA Convention centered on community service, both at its display booth and other sponsorship areas. Two non-profit groups -- National Center for Family Literacy and the National Arbor Day Foundation -- joined in this effort, offering advice and ideas to FFA members on how to start community-service projects.

The 2007 Tundra -- available in showrooms in February -- features a 5.7 liter V8 engine, with a towing capacity that exceeds 10,000 pounds. The half-ton pickup truck is being built at two U.S. plants -- Princeton, Ind. and the new manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. Toyota also showcased a pair of youth oriented passenger cars at the tradeshow: the Yaris and the Scion xB.
