Remmel Taylor, of Oxford, son of the late Gordie Isaac Taylor and Beulah Green Taylor, was born on April 13, 1922, in Oxford, Ark. He died Dec. 23, 2006, at his home at the age of 84.
He was united in marriage to Cleva Mae McCollum on April 14, 1944, in Oxford. To this union eight children were born.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer and attended services at the Oxford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Carol Taylor and wife, Linda, of Moxee, Wash., Harold Taylor and wife, Hazel, of Salem, Doc Taylor and wife, Linda, of Oxford, Wendel Taylor and wife, Michelle, of Oxford, Mavileen Wilson and husband, Wayne, of Melbourne, David Taylor and wife, Pat, of Salem, R.C. Taylor and wife, Paula, of Oxford and Scotty Taylor and wife, Melanie of Oxford; his brothers Vester and Hayden Taylor, both of Kansas City, Mo., his sisters, Velma Webb of Oxford, Ina Mae Powell, Peggy Ball and Faye Sanderson, all of Kansas City, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a granddaughter, Carolyn Mae Taylor; a brother, Revel Taylor; a sister, Wilma Gay Hayes; and his father and mother.
The funeral services were held at the Oxford Baptist Church with burial following in the Oxford Cemetery. The arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
