Mary Katherine "Tootsie" Gay, age 82, of Cave City died Jan. 4, 2007, at the Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City.

She was born April 7, 1924, at Strawberry, Ark. the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Hilda Esther Lee (Lackey) Asberry.

She was a homemaker, retired cook from Cave City School and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.

Survivors include her husband, L.J. Gay of the home; two sons, Bobby Joe Gay of Cave City and Elbert Lee Gay of Strawberry; two daughters, Sharon Kay Palmer of Cave City and Kathy Ann Huskey of Batesville; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clede Asberry, Clyde Asberry and J.D. Asberry; and three sisters, Ruthel Mullen, Maxie Whitmire and Zora Lee Perkey.

Funeral services were held Jan. 7 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard officiating. Burial followed at Milligan Campground Cemetery near Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Tim Palmer, Roger Gay, Mike Hoggard, Jason Palmer, Dennis Gay and Travis Hoggard.
